Padres over Mets- The New York Mets made one huge free agent acquisition in the off season signing pitcher Jason Vargas who won a career high 18 games last season and will make his Mets debut tonight. The 35-year old last faced the Padres in July of 2011 when pitching for Seattle and is 2-1 with a 2.39 ERA which I kind of discard because a true trend hasn't established. For lowly San Diego who has lost eight of their last 10 one true bright spot on the mound has been Joey Lucchesi (2-1, 2.70 ERA) who had three quality starts before a rough session in his last outing. Joey has surrendered just 14 hits in 17 innings and will have enough to keep the Mets in control. Take SAN DIEGO!
