The well-rounded Giants are tough to beat right now and have the pitching advantage in this one. Montas' recent struggles don't figure to get better against one of baseball's best offenses, and Wood is effective enough to win with good run support.

There has to be some concern for Oakland that Montas will never get back to the ace-level starter we saw in the first half of 2019 before he was suspended for steroids, as opponents are barreling him up too often in 2021 with a hard-hit rate of nearly 45%. The Giants can take advantage of that as they are second in the league in slugging percentage and have slugged an MLB-high 111 home runs, with veterans like Brandon Crawford suddenly finding a power surge.
