St Louis starting pitcher Miles Mikolas was roughed up last time out by Milwaukee, allowing nine hits and six runs, all of which were earned, in 5 ⅔ innings and the Cardinals lost 8-0. Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has had five consecutive solid outings allowing a combined six earned runs and 20 hits in 30 innings pitched. The Cubs have improved at the plate with a .236 team batting average and a .386 slugging percentage. Patrick Wisdom, Willson Contreras and Frank Schwindel have all had productive seasons through 50 games, as has Ian Happ. St Louis has had very little production at the plate outside of Arenado and Goldschmidt.
