Result: Win
We see a battle of NL East foes in this one as the Nationals travel to Hotlanta to open a weekend set with the Braves. One thing that we’ve seen is that the Nationals are bad on the road and they are terrible against division opponents, posting a 7-30 record on the season. Washington sends Erick Fedde to the mound here and he’s been up and down this season. While he’s been solid in his last three starts, those came against the Marlins, Pirates and Orioles, none of whom have a lineup laced with All-Stars. Charlie Morton gets the call for the Braves here and he’s coming off a bitter no-decision in his last outing, which came against the Reds Sunday. Morton threw seven scoreless frames, allowing one hit with one walk and 10 strikeouts in a game the bullpen gave away 4-3. He’s allowed just four runs over 26.2 innings in his last four starts. With the way the Braves can rake mediocre pitching and the Nationals’ struggles on the road and/or in divisional games, you have to back the Braves in this contest.
