Miami has seen the total go OVER in five straight. The first two games of this series have flown OVER th enumber.
San Diego won the first game 8-3 and then it hung on for a 6-5 victory yesterday.
I think that Wednesday's contest finally sets up as more of a DUEL.
The Marlins go with Sandy Alcantara, who is 6-10 with a 3.70 ERA. That's despite allowing ten runs on ten hits over four innings in a loss at Coors Field.
That outlier aside, Alcantara has been a consistent bright spot for the Marlins this season. Note that he's 3-3 with a 1.70 ERA in all DAY games this year.
The Padres go with Ryan Weathers, who is 4-4 with a 4.26 ERA. He is coming off a loss against the Rockies as well, allowing eight runs off eight hits. The eight runs allowed were double his previous-high given up this season.
Starts like that for both Alcantara and Weathers have been few and far between. I think each bounces back here.
Finally, note that Miami has seen the total go UNDER in eight of its last 12 after playing to five or more straight OVERS in a row.
I like both starters to bounce back, to battle deep and for this total to ultimately stay UNDER the posted number.
