This is an 8* TOTAL SPECIAL on the OVER A's/Angels.
We had a play on the OVER in the A's 3-1 win yesterday, and while that pick came up short, we now definitely love the way Thursday's game sets up to finally be more of a high-scoring SLUG-FEST. The A's have now seen the total go UNDER in four straight, while the Angels have seen the total go UNDER in three straight, after winning the opener of this three-game series by an identical 3-1 score.
The A's hand the ball to Paul Blackburn, who is 6-6 with a 4.15 ERA overall, but who has been terrible of late, going winless over his last seven starts and posting an 8.05 ERA over that span. He's had success against the Angels in the past, but his recent form leaves everything to be desired.
The home side counters with Jason Junk, who is 1-0 with 0.00 ERA. It's his third appearance and second start of the year. He's given up five hits and struck out nine over six innings so far.
The sample size is just too small to draw any conclusions on Junk, other than regression would seem imminent here finally.
I don't have a lot of faith in either starter. Everything points to this total flying OVER the number sooner, rather than later.
