With a spread like this, you could hardly call it the upset of the season in the Big Ten if Purdue wins this game.

The Nittany Lions struggled with the run game last year, and while not horrible up front, they weren't great. I think Purdue's defensive front can hold up well here at home against Penn State as it tries to figure a few things out here in Week 1.

Purdue is going to be able to control the actual tempo of this game though with its passing attack, and Penn State is going to be forced to match pace.

This marks the third straight year that Penn State has opened a College Football season on the road against a Big Ten opponent. It lost in Indiana in 2020, but managed a win at Wisconsin in 2021.

But a Thursday night road game at Purdue is not going to be easy.

Aiden O'Connell lost a lot of receiving talent, but it's just "next man up." I like O'Connell here at home and I think he'll be a difference-maker in this contest.
