The Georgia Bulldogs and the Clemson Tigers meet Saturday in a game that very easily could be the National Championship game later this year. The Georgia Bulldogs went 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the SEC last year. As a team, Georgia averaged 32.3 PPG and allowed 20 PPG last season. JT Daniels returns to lead the Bulldogs' offense. Zamir White returns, after rushing for 779 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. The bulldogs receiving corps is decent if not yet spectacular. On the defensive end, they will have a tremendous pass rush and with a couple of transfers in the defensive backfield, they should once again have a formidable defensive unit.
The Clemson Tigers had another outstanding season in 2020 with a 10-2 overall record and a 9-1 record in ACC play. They lost to Ohio State in the Semi-finals of the playoffs. Clemson averaged 43.5 PPG and allowed 20.2 PPG last season. The offense will have to retool with the loss of Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne. All is not lost as DJ Ulagalelei will step in for Lawrence. He threw for 429 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Notre Dame and helped lead a comeback against Boston College. Lyn-J Dixon will start at running back They also need to find some receivers to step up this season. The Clemson defense has always been stout and last year was no exception. They led the ACC in total defense and scoring defense and were really good at stopping the run. Nine starters are expected to return to the defense this year.
I am looking for a tough defensive struggle in this game as both teams will be trying to get their offense going with new players in key positions. This game could come down to who has the ball last. I like the points in this one as i feel Georgia can win this game outright.
Play on Georgia.
