The Florida State Seminoles open the season against the take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday. Notre Dame posted a 10-2 record last season and has 10 or more games in each of the last four years. The Florida State Seminoles had another dismal season, finishing 3-6 last season.
The Irish put up 33.4 points and 448.5 yards a game last season. On the defensive end, they gave up 19.7 points and 343.6 yards a game. The Irish will have a new quarterback as Jack Coan takes over the offense. he threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns for Wisconsin. Kyren Williams returns to lead the rushing attack after putting up 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns. They return nine starters from last season including three on offense.
The Seminoles put up 25.8 points and 396.7 yards a game last season. On the defensive side, they allowed 36 points and 456.3 yards a game last season. They will break in a new quarterback as McKenzie Milton, who transferred from Central Florida, will make the start. He has not played the last two years as he was recovering from a very bad knee injury. At UCF, he threw for 8,683 yards with 72 TDs and 22 INTs and he rushed for 1,078 yards and 20 yards. The Seminoles do have one of the better pass rushers in the country in defensive end Jermaine Johnson.
The Irish have to rebuild their offense behind a new quarterback while McKenzie Milton is unproven after missing the last two years. The Irish should run the ball a lot as they had a ton of success running last year against FSU. The Noles should be better on offense but it may take a game or two for Milton to be fully comfortable in the offense. FSU has a good running attack also and I would expect them to rush the ball to try and keep pressure off of Milton. I am looking for a lower-scoring game than the books.
Play on the UNDER.
