The Iowa State Cyclones meet the Iowa Hawkeyes for the bragging rights of the corn state. The Iowa Hawkeyes opened the season and the Big 10 with an impressive 34-6 win over Indiana. Spencer Petras threw for 145 yards. Tyler Goodson led the rushing attack with 99 rushing yards and a touchdown. It was the defense that stepped up big holding the Hoosier offense and Penix Jr. to just 6 points. They will need their defense to step up once again in this one,
The Iowa State Cyclones struggled in their opener, squeaking by Northern Iowa 16-10. Brock Purdy threw for 199 yards and rushed for 58 yards. The rushing attack was led by Breece Hall with 69 yards ut it took him 23 carries and he scored a touchdown. The defense came up huge which allowed them t sneak away with the W.
The Hawkeyes have gone UNDER in 12 of their last 15 games played in September. The Cyclones have gone UNDER in five of their last 6 overall and the UNDER 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Points will be at a premium in the game. Both teams will be ready to stop the run and both teams rely on the ground game and neither starting quarterback had a standout opening game. I don’t see a lot of touchdowns coming in this one.
