Result: Loss
The Mississippi State Bulldogs take on SEC foe the LSU Tigers on Saturday. The LSU Tigers have won two in a row after dropping the season opener t UCLA. The Mississippi State Bulldogs also come into this game at 2-1.
The LSU Tigers have not played well on the road in recent times as they have lost four of their last six when away from home, including their loss this season. The offense is run by Max Johnson with 863 passing yards, to go with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. The Tigers rushing attack puts up just 86 yards a game as a team and is led by Corey Kiner with 130 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving corps is led by Kayshon Boutte and Jack Bech, who have combined to catch passes for 378 yards and seven touchdowns. On the defensive side, they are giving up 22 points and 303 yards a game.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be looking for their fourth straight win at home. The offense is led by Will Rogers with 1,083 passing yards, to go with eight touchdowns and one interception. The Bulldog's rushing attack leaves a lot to be desired. As a team, they are rushing for just 45.3 yards a game and are led by Jo’quavious Marks with 83 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving corps is led by Makai Polk and Jaden Walley, who have combined to catch passes for 392 yards and four touchdowns. On the defensive side, they are giving up 5 points and 317.3 yards game.
Last season when these two teams met LSU struggled mightily to slow down the Bulldogs offense. I really can't see that changing this year, especially looking at how LSU played against UCLA. Mississippi State’s rushing attack is dreadful to non-existent but that is really nothing new for a Mike Leach offense. The Bulldogs surprisingly was the fourth-best defense in the conference last year. I think Mississippi St. Can make some stops on defense and I don't think LSU can.
