The Washington Huskies take on in-state rivals the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup. This game is usually the last game of the season but with Washington moving to the Big 10 it is this weekend. Washington won last year 24-21 and they have won nine of the last 10 between the two. Washington State has won their first two games, including a 37-16 against Texas Tech. John Mateer is a dual threat option and will give Washington problems. The Cougars have averaged 262.5 yards rushing and 264 yards through the air and are scoring 53.5 points per game. The defense is giving up 23 points a game and 470 total yards. The Washington Huskies are 2-0 but have yet to be tested. They have won 16 straight at home. Despite losing their coach and much of the staff, they are still putting up 33 points a game. Will Rogers transferred from Mississippi State to take over for the departing Michael Penix Jr. In two games he has completed 78.8% of his passes with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. The defense returned just one starter but has played well in their first two games. This game will be played on a neutral field. has been moved to a neutral field. Washington State was able to take advantage of Texas Tech only rushing three which allowed Mateer to run for nearly 200 yards from the quarterback position. That will not happen against Washington. They will make him beat them with his arm. This Washington has held both of their opponents to under 10 points this season. Washington has the better quarterback here, he has more experience and has played in bigger games in his career. I am taking the Huskies to dominate take this one again.
