Point Spread: 2.50 | -115.00 Tulane (Away)
Result: Loss
I'm on Tulane +3 in a road spot vs UAB for these reasons:
- UAB aren't that good of a home team, 2-5-1 ATS at home and 6-3 overall at home straight up.
- UAB's Questionable losses to Sothern Miss, Mcneese, and Bradley (all above .500, but UAB were favored by -4.5 or more in all three of those losses) have me weary on taking them vs a much greater scoring opponent in Tulane coming to town.
- Tulane have only lost to North Texas on the road, who have a top 4 defense. UAB does not have a good defense, allowing 76 points per game on average, 45% shooting from the field, 34% shooting from long range, and 18 free-throw attempts per game.
- Tulane defensively, aren't that much different from UAB (making sense of the high over/under) allowing 42% shooting from the field, 34% from long range and 18 free-throw attempts as well. HOWEVER, Tulane cause more turnovers on defense by a larger margin than UAB, forcing 14 turnovers per game to UABs 11.
- Tulane have 5 players averaging more than 12 points per game (3 average 14+), 4 of those 5 are shooting 50% from the field. Only 2 players average 12pts for UAB, and only 2 of their starting five are shooting over 50%
Official Play: Tulane +2.5
