Manchester City is coming into this match with pretty much the same team that won the treble last season. They did lose some talent like Mahrez leaving in the transfer window as well as Gundogan but they also signed some replacements and those 2 leaving are hardly enough to put a dent in this talented team. Man City is coming off of a loss in the Community Shield, a match they lost in penalties after allowing a goal in the final minute of stoppage time which tied the match. Man City wanted to win that match as they had lost in the Community Shield the last 2 years and already they have started the season on the wrong foot before it has even begun. Man City is going to be very upset over that loss and they are going to make sure to come out strong in this 1st match of the season to send a message that they are still the strongest side in the league. They are going up against a newly promoted Burnley side that won the English Championship last year with a 10 point lead over 2nd place, but that means nothing now that they are back in the Premier League playing with the much bigger clubs. As good as Burnley was in the Championship last season, they still do not have the talent to keep up with this Man City side coming off of such a dominant year all around and they do not have a good history against Man City either. Man City has won their last 11 straight matches against Burnley with 10 of those 11 wins coming by 2 goals or more including their last 8 straight matches which Burnley has failed to even score a goal in their last 7 meetings as well. Man City is going to be angry after losing the Community Shield to Arsenal and they are going to trying to blow the doors off newly promoted Burnley in this 1st match of the season.
