Purdue is coming into this game off of a big win at home against Illinois in their last game but Purdue has still been awful this season as they are only 2-3 and that was their 1st home win of the year which took them 4 home games to get. Their defense has not been good this season as they have allowed 35 points or more in 3 of their 5 games this season and that includes their 2 games just prior to beating Illinois. They are going up against an Iowa team that is 4-1 this season and they still have a real chance to win the Big Ten West despite getting shut out by Penn State a few weeks ago. Other than that 1 loss to Penn State, Iowa has not allowed more than 16 points in their other 4 games this season and Purdue is going to struggle to score points them here on the road. Iowa has struggled on offense this season and now they will be missing Cade McNamara as well but he has not really moved the needle that much in this offense and Iowa has been winning many games with good defense over the last few years despite not having a good offense. They only average 22 points scored per game but their defense averages 16 points allowed per game so their defense will keep them in this game at home and the offense cannot be any worse with their backup QB. Purdue also has a very bad defense that has been averaging close to 30 points allowed per game and they have been averaging more points allowed than points scored per game. Iowa will cover the spread in this game.
