Michigan is coming into this game with a 4-1 record this season and they are 2-0 in the Big 10. They have won 2 straight conference games at home, beating USC and Minnesota by 3 points in each game, but now they are playing their 1st road game of the season with a tough travel. They are going up against a Washington team that is 3-2 this season and 1-1 in the Big 10. They are coming off of a 21-18 loss against Rutgers in their last game, losing on the road in a very close game that they played well in, but now they are back at home and will be hungry to bounce back. They are also going to have some extra incentive here as they are going up against a Michigan team that beat Washington in the National Championship last season so pride is on the line here. Washington has not been scoring a lot of points in their games this season, averaging just 25.2 points scored per game, but they have been gaining yards in their games and moving the ball well. They have had a very balanced offense that is averaging 173.2 rushing yards per game, 5.3 yards per carry, and 296.2 passing yards per game with a quarterback in Will Rogers who is completing 74.8% of his passes this season and averaging 9.2 yards per passing attempt. The defense has also been very good, averaging 121.8 rushing yards allowed per game, 3.7 yards per carry, and 128 passing yards allowed per game with opposing quarterbacks only completing 45.8% of their passes. Michigan also has a good defense that is averaging 68.8 rushing yards allowed per game, but their pass defense has not been very good. They are averaging 248.8 passing yards allowed per game and allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete over 60% of their passes. Washington may struggle in the run game here, but they have a very good quarterback that can throw the ball efficiently and he will torch this Michigan defense that has not been defending the pass well. Offense has also been a big issue for Michigan as they have not been able to throw the ball effectively so they will struggle to move it against this Washington defense that has been stingy on all fronts. Washington will cover the spread in this game.
