Purdue is coming into this game with a 4-0 record this season and they have been playing well recently. They won their first 3 straight games of the season against weaker teams like Texas A&M-CC, Northern kentucky, and Yale, and now they are coming off of a big win against Alabama in their last game. They beat Alabama by 9 points and Alabama was ranked 2nd in the country at the time of that game, but Purdue has also played all 4 of their games at home so this is going to be their 1st true road test. They lost their best player from last season to the NBA and they did return 2 of their key starters who have played a big role in the team this season, but the defense has been a problem for this team so far. The offense has been great as they have scored 87+ points in 3 of their 4 games, but a lot of that is due to the defense playing poorly, allowing 73+ points in 3 of their 4 games this season and allowing 78+ points in each of their last 2 games which were both against much stronger opponents, Alabama and Yale. They are going up against a Marquette team that is 4-0 this season and they have also been playing very well in their recent games. Marquette was a very good team last season and they did lose 2 players to the NBA, but they are also returning 2 of their key starters including Kam Jones who has had a big impact on this team. Shaka Smart has had this team very competitive as one of the better teams in the country since coming to the team and this is a game they are going to get up for to make a statement. Marquette has also been tested already as they are coming off of a road win against Maryland in their last game and this is a game they are going to get up for at home since they did lose to Purdue last season by 3 points in a neutral location when they played an early season tournament in Hawaii. Marquette will cover the spread in this game.
