BYU is coming into this game with a 9-1 record this season and they are 6-1 in the conference. They were the only undefeated team left in the conference up until last week when they lost at home to Kansas 17-13, but they are still the only 1 loss team in the conference. That was only their 1st loss of the season, but that is going to take a toll on them as a team and they are not going to be motivated as much to get up after their undefeated season was snapped. They have also been playing with fire in recent weeks as they have been playing some very close games, 2 of their last 3 wins coming by 3 points or less and needing a very late score in each of those to win the game. They are going up against an Arizona State team that is 8-2 this season and they are 5-2 in the conference which has them in the Big 12 Championship race. They have won their last 3 straight games and they have been on fire recently with both their offense and their defense playing well. They are coming off of a 24-14 win on the road against Kansas State in their last game which kicked Kansas State out of the Big 12 Championship contention, and beating BYU here would really boost their chances of getting in. They have a very good run game led by Cam Skattebo who has been one of the better RBs in the country this season and they are averaging 190.5 rushing yards per game as well as 4.5 yards per carry. This BYU defense has been very good all season, but that is an area that Arizona State can certainly attack with BYU allowing 139.2 rushing yards per game and 4.3 yards per carry which is going to hurt them against a running back like this. BYU does have a very good pass defense that is tough to throw on, but Sam Leavitt has been accurate with his throws this season and the run game is going to open up a lot for him in the passing game. Arizona State will cover the spread in this game.
