7* CFB Best Bet: West Virginia vs Pittsburgh
(NCAAF) West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh,
Total: 51.50 | -110.00 Under
Result: Loss
The Pittsburgh Panthers averaged over 41 ppg last year, but that will not come close to that this year, especially in the early going. Pitt lost QB Kenny Pickett to the NFL Draft, WR Jordan Addison to the transfer portal, and offensive coordinator Charlie Whipple to Nebra ska. That is a lot for this offense to lose. They do bring in QB Kedon Slovis from USC, but he will take some time to gel with the offense. The Panthers are expected to run the ball a lot more this year and that makes sense as they have a good running game that will set up behind an OL that has all five starters back. The Pittsburgh offense will struggle in this one, even though they are going up against a West Virginia defense that has just four starters back. The Mountaineers always have a solid defense and they have allowed just 20.8 ppg and 23.5 ppg over the last two years. The West Virginia offense has been below average the last three years and this year will be no different. They have seven starters back on offense, but must break in a new QB in JT Daniels, who is playing for his 3rd team, plus they have no running game. He will be under fire from a Pitt Defense that has seven starters back from a group that allowed just 23.6 ppg last year. Lastly, the Under is 5-1-1 in West Virginia's last 7 vs. the ACC and 4-1 in the last five games of this series.
