I was down on the Hogs even after they beat KU in the opening round. Why? Mainly because I’ve spent all year telling you KU was not a good basketball team. But, when they beat St. John’s, a team I was VERY high on, they got my attention. They were able to beat the Johnnies, despite going just 2-19 from deep, because they pounded the ball inside and hit their mid-range jumpers. Consequently, they shot 57% from 2-point range, compared with a SJU team that went 2-22 from distance and shot just a dismal 28% from the field overall. They’re taking on a Tech team that went 5-8 ATS against tournament teams, including 2-3 as a favorite. Meanwhile, Arkansas has gone 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11 vs tourney teams, including winning their last five outright as an underdog. Every year, there is one team that makes an improbable run that no one saw coming. I think Arkansas just might be that team.
