#730 ASA PLAY ON Pittsburgh +2 over Wake Forest, Thursday at 2:30 PM ET - We love this spot for Pitt as Wake was in a must win spot yesterday and pulled off the win over Notre Dame. It was a game that WF needed to keep their NCAA hopes alive and they are close to being in the field now and facing a Pitt team that is now in the Deacs situation which is must win. The Panthers were hoping to get another shot at Wake after losing 91-58 in Winston Salem in late February. It was by far Pitt’s worst performance of the season on both ends of the court scoring a season low in ACC play while allowing their season high in conference play. Wake Forest shot 61% from the field and made 19 of 20 FT’s while Pittsburgh made only 29% of their shots in the game. Minus that embarrassing effort, the Panthers have shown they can get it done away from home with 8 road/neutral wins away from home including 6 ACC road wins including a win @ Duke. The Demon Deacons, on the other hand, had 2 wins away from home the entire season prior to yesterday’s “W” over Notre Dame. Their other 2 road wins came @ BC and @ Georgia Tech. Thus their wins away from home came against teams that finished the ACC in 11th place and 2 tied for 12th place. Pitt was playing great basketball for the most part (minus their loss @ WF) to end the season winning 11 of their last 14 games. They are a solid rebounding team and protect the ball better than any team in the ACC (9th nationally in offensive turnover percentage). We like the Panthers to pull the upset on Thursday.
