Give me a reason, any reason, to play against the White Sox and I'm there. Here are three quick reasons. Cole Hamels. James Shields. Fair lay price.
The Rangers are far from good. But they're the '27 Yankees compared to the White Sox, who have the worst record in the majors at 10-29. The White Sox are a mind-bogging 3-15 at home this season and have dropped 13 of their past 15 games.
Texas is just one game below .500 on the road this year. Hamels is 2-1 with a 2.54 in five road starts this season. Hamels is in great form with a 1.93 ERA during his past four starts. He also is 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox.
The Rangers just lost Adrian Beltre to injury again, but have back Rougned Odor and Delino DeShields.
Shields is 36. His ERA in 2016 was 5.85. His ERA was 5.23 last season. It's 5.44 this season. The White Sox have lost in Shields' last five starts.
I understand the White Sox are rebuilding. But I don't get why they continue to keep the washed-up Shields in their rotation. As long as this happens, though, I'm going to be in fade mode.
(Editor's note: Stephen Nover had an easy 6-0 winner with the Indians laying 1 1/2 runs on the run line Wednesday and has his MLB Game of the Week going today in addition to this free offering. Stephen also has his first hockey 100-Dimer of the season going today. Stephen has won more than 70 percent of his 100-Dimers, his signature and most rare play. Make sure not to miss any of these guaranteed winners!)
