Point Spread: -6.00 | -125.00 Washington (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* BLOWOUT on Washington.
When the smoke clears at the end of the Cactus Bowl, I expect to have seen Washington to have successfully pulled away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover. I think Oklahoma State has to be feeling pretty content to just be playing in the postseason, while I believe Washington will have something to prove. The Cowboys trailed Oklahoma by a TD with under a minute to play on Decmeber 6th, before Tyreek Hill returned a punt for 92 yards for the tying score, setting OKS to win 38-35 in OT, the miracle play making the team bowl eligible on the final game of the season. Note though, the hero of that game, Hill, was arrested and charged with punching and kicking his pregnant girlfriend on December 12th and was dismissed from the team. The arrest has had a huge mental effect on the team as confirmed by coach Mike Gundy: "You come off of a certain feeling and you have an incident like this, and it just makes it extremely difficult," Gundy assessed earlier in the week. "The energy level we got from that game has not been diminished, but it was just a shot in the gut for all of us. It's hard on the players now." It's all positivity on Washington's side though, the Huskies beat Washington State 31-13 on November 29th to ensure that the team finished with a ninth straight season of at least eight wins. All of the Huskies losses came vs. teams which were ranked at the time and they've done extremely well in creating defensive pressure as they sit near the top of the FBS with 49 sacks and 27 forced turnovers. Offensively there's no comparison between these two teams in my opinion either, the Cowboys are led by freshman QB Mason Rudolph, who made just his second start of the season vs. Oklahoma and went 19 of 35 for 273 yards, two TD's and one INT. This is a phenomenal situational play in my opinion, play on WASHINGTON.
