The Padres hand the ball to Odrisamer Despaigne (3-5, 4.92 ERA) on Tuesday night, he most recently was shelled for six in a 16-2 loss to the Athletics on Wednesday, surrendering four of those in the first inning alone. Unfortunately for Despaigne, a date on the road is not what the doctor ordered to get untracked as he's a poor 1-3 with a ballooned 6.00 ERA away from friendly confines this season. The home side counters with Madison Bumgarner (7-4, 3.09 ERA) who was fantastic in a 2-0 loss to the Mariners on Wednesday, going eight innings and giving up the two runs off four hits and walking just one while striking out nine. Note that the southpaw has now gone exactly eight innings in each of his last three starts and has given up just eight earned runs in that span. The massive talent discrepancy on the mound today absolutely justifies in laying the 1.5 runs for the near pick-em price in my opinion.
