This is a 10* GAME OF THE WEEK on the Toronto Blue Jays.
We feel that the talent discrepancy on the mound and at the plate absolutely justifies in laying this price, in fact we believe that the gap is a lot wider than what the oddsmakers are leading us to believe, making this a very fair price all things considered. The visitors hand the ball to Mark Buehrle (14-6, 3.53 ERA), who had his start pushed from Sunday's finale vs. the Orioles, to the opener of this three game set. Buehrle comes into this one well rested after dominating the Tigers on Sunday, giving up one earned run off five hits over six innings with two walks and two K's. Buehrle has won five of his last six decisions and has been particularly effective in this spot all season as he's 5-3 with a 3.42 ERA in all "day" games thus far. The home side counters with Rick Porcello (6-12, 5.21 ERA) who looked decent in a 3-1 loss to the Yanks on Tuesday, giving up three runs off five hits over eight innings of work. Porcello has looked better of late, but note that he's just 4-6 with a pedestrian 4.46 ERA in all home games this season and a deplorable 1-3 with a 9.82 ERA in all "day" games to date. We primarily base our MLB picks on starting pitching, "situations," motivation and scheduling and in this case, the overwhelming factors working in favor of Buehrle and the BLUE JAYS do indeed make the visitors the savvy move in this contest.
