This is an 8* SITUATIONAL PITCHERS DUEL on the UNDER between the Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins.
While these teams have played to some higher-scoring affairs of late and also against each other, I believe the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring pitchers duel and expect this total to sneak below the posted number once it's all said and done. Detroit just swept a series vs. the Indians and has won six of its last seven to take control of the division again. The visitors turn to ace Max Scherzer (16-5, 3.19 ERA) who gave up one run and seven hits over 6 2/3's innings in a 4-2 win over the Royals on Tuesday. Scherzer has to be feeling pretty confident today, he's dominated the Twins throughout his career in going 8-2 while winning his last five starts straight in the series to go along with a very respectable 2.87 ERA. The home side counters with Anthony Swarzak (3-1, 3.95 ERA) who will start in place of the injured Tommy Milone; Swarzak has made just one start this year, a 3-1 win over the Tribe back on July 23rd. Detroit has had success against Swarzak in the past, but I think comes in a bit flat-footed vs. the lowly Twins, in my opinion all signs point to the UNDER as the sharp wager in this one.
