The Coach's NHL Late Show @ Staples Center
(NHL) St. Louis vs. Los Angeles,
Money Line: -132.00 Los Angeles (Home)
Result: Win
The St. Louis Blues picked up a rare win against the Los Angeles Kings in the opener of a home-and-home series Tuesday. It's the California team that has normally had the better of their opponent over recent meetings, winning seven of the last nine match-ups. With the home team coming off three straight losses and the visitors looking to extend a five game winning streak, I think this is a good spot to back the home team who must be desperate to get back on track.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Home Cookin' - The Kings have struggled on the road this season, but no one can complain at their performances at STAPLES Center. They've picked up 11 of their 15 wins for the season at home while losing only five. Jonathan Quick in particular is enjoying the home ice advantage posting a 1.52 GAA while going 10-3-1 in front of the home fans compared to a bloated 3.12 road GAA.

2. Home-And-Home Warriors - I doubt Tuesday's loss will be a concern for the Kings. They've been very successfule in home-and-home situations, losing only one of their last nine in the second game of a home-and-home series.

3. X-Factor - The Blues Jaden Schwartz is tied for second on the team with 27 points and had one goal and one assist Tuesday but will miss this game and be out for an extended period of time with a foot injury.

Selection: This is a play on the Los Angeles Kings (8*)
