Result: Win
Total: 5.50 | -115.00 Over
Result: Win
The Stars might be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel relishing the opportunity to string three wins together for only the second time this this season. They've tightened up their defense over recent games and shut out the Canucks in Vancouver two days ago. The Flames are win-less over six straight games, mostly due to consistent failure in finding the net. This is a match-up between two teams that most likely will head in different directions in the table from now on, but I think tonight's game will be a tight stalemate and I like the under.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Flames Struggling Offense - The Flames were one of the hotter teams in November, scoring almost at will no matter who was tending the net for their opponent. They've not been as prolific as of late, scoring only 10 goals over their six game slide with their power play going 3-for-22 for a measly 13% efficiency. This is not a good time to come up against Kari Lehtonen who has been showing his true colors over recent games, going 3-1-0 while posting a GAA of 2.03.
2. Dallas Lack Of Scoring Depth - Tyler Seguin has scored more than 26% of the Stars goals this season, and no other player on the team has even reached double-digits. Contain Seguin and the Stars should be rather toothless.
3. X-Factor - With the Flames coming off a 5-2 loss at Madison Square Garden you might fancy the Stars chances of inflicting similar damage. Perhaps not though as the Stars have failed to pile on teams misery over recent games with all their last five when their opponent has allowed five goals or more in their previous game going under the total.
Selection: This is a play on DAL@CGY to go under the total (8*
