The Coach's Free Play
(NHL) Philadelphia vs. Vancouver,
Money Line: -145.00 Vancouver (Home)
Result: Win
The Vancouver Canucks are currently hanging on to the sixth spot in the Western Conference, but only two points separate them from the ninth place Winnipeg Jets, with Los Angeles and Calgary in between. The Canucks host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, and this is a must win for the home team. The Flyers are nine points back of eighth place Boston, leaving them no realistic shot of qualifying for the post-season.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Home Cookin' - Philly owns one of the league's worst road records (8-19-9), and it has lost six straight in it's last six away from home. Flyers goalie Steve Mason is just 1-10-6 with a 2.60 GAA on the road this season.

2. Eddie Lack - Vancouver's backup netminder has been solid filling in for the injured Ryan Miller, posting a record of 3-1-1 with a 1.69 GAA in his last six appearances.

3. X-Factor - The Canucks are getting healthier, with Kevin Bieksa, Brad Richardson and Chris Higgins all getting on the score sheet in their first game back from injury on Saturday. Philly has some injury concerns with Michael Del Zotto doubtful, and R.J. Umberger done for the year with an abdominal injury. Matt Read will not play due to personal reasons.
