The Coach's NHL SURE SHOT
(NHL) Florida vs. Toronto,
Money Line: -155.00 Florida (Away)
Result: Win
Money Line: -155.00 Florida (Away)
Result: Win
The Florida Panthers are coming to Toronto to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre Thursday. They opened a five game road trip with a 4-3 loss at Tampa Bay Tuesday, but must like their chances of picking up the win here against a Maple Leafs team that has more or less given up on the season already. I like their chances, and I think we're getting a fair price on the visitors.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Situational/Motivational - The Panthers are still in the race for the last playoff spots in the East, sitting in 10th place five points behind Ottawa in eighth with the Bruins sandwiched in between. They're playing at Montreal Saturday before visiting the two aforementioned Sens and Bruins, and we can expect them to come out here desperate to bag those two in comparison "easy" points. The Maple Leafs meanwhile are off six consecutive regulation losses and have won only one of their last 10. They're struggling at both ends of the rink, and the fighting spirit is since long gone.
2. Roberto Luongo - The veteran conceded four goals at Tampa Bay his last time out, but considering how the Panthers have played of late there's no shame in that. He had allowed only two goals over his past three outings prior and has dominated the Maple Leafs over recent seasons going 8-1-0 behind a 2.12 GAA over the last 10 meetings.
3. X-Factor - Jaromir Jagr has two goals and six assists in 11 games as a Panther since coming over from the Devils. He'll be desperate to make it to the playoffs with his new club.
Selection: This is a play on the Florida Panthers(8*)
