The Oakland A's took Game 1 of this series at Angels Stadium last night, as Matt Shoemaker didn't have his best stuff. The Angels will try to even the series here in Game 1, and I think they have a favorable match-up to do just that.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Pitching - Hector Santiago will get the nod for the Angels, and he tossed seven solid innings in is most recent start. Santiago (1-1, 2.92 ERA) allowed just one run on four hits in a 10-2 win over the Rangers in Texas. The A's will counter with Drew Pomeranz, who was hit hard in a loss to Houston in his last appearance.

2. Home Cookin' - Pomeranz won just five games last season, and four of those victories came at home. He's 2-9 with a 3.84 ERA on the road over the last three seasons.

3. X-Factor - Mike Trout continues to swing a hot bat, he's hitting .354 with nine RBIs so far this season.
