Rogers' 10* FIRST ROUND SIDE OF THE YEAR (MASSIVE PACKAGE!)
(NHL) San Jose vs. Los Angeles,
Money Line: -139.00 Los Angeles (Home)
Result: Loss
10* FIRST ROUND SIDE OF THE YEAR LA Kings.

The Pacific Division rivals the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks will open their seven-game series in the first round of the NHL playoffs with a match-up at Staples Center Thursday night. The Sharks won the regular-season series 3-2, but I like the Kings to get the job done at home here in the playoffs.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. History - The Kings have a psychological advantage after rallying back from a 3-0 series deficit two years ago to eliminate the Sharks on their way to the Stanley Cup trophy. That kind of determination and resilience still remain in this Kings' team with several core-players from that episode still on the roster.

2. Situational - Both the Kings and the Sharks played their regular-season finale Saturday, and the extended break should favor the home-team. San Jose has lost each of its last four playing on three or more days of rest while the Kings are 7-1 in their last eight.

3. X-Factor - The Sharks have lost 12 of the last 16 meetings at Staples Center.

Selection: This is a play on the Los Angeles Kings (10*)
