The pitching matchup: Miguel Gonzalez (3-3 & 3.83 ERA) starts for Chicago and Matt Shoemaker (2-2 & 4.50 ERA) for LA. Gonzalez lost for the third straight time last Friday, surrendering five runs on eight hits and four walks in five innings against San Diego (White Sox lost at home, 6-3). Gonzalez has served up four HRs during his slide, after giving up only two over his first four outings this season. Gonzalez has made six career starts against Los Angeles, going 3-2 with a 3.20 ERA (teams are 3-3). Shoemaker is coming off his strongest outing of the season, a 7-0 home victory over Detroit on Friday in which he struck out seven and scattered three hits over six scoreless innings. It marked his second straight six-inning effort and just the second time in eight starts in which he did not allow a HR. Shoemaker is 1-2 with a 4.15 ERA in four career outings against Chicago (Angels are 2-2).
