Rogers' 10* SUNDAY SLAMMER >> 3-0 Saturday! RIDICULOUS 62-29-2 L22 Days!
(MLB) Detroit vs. Chi White Sox,
Money Line: 105.00 Detroit (Away)
Result: Loss
The set-up: The Tigers and White Sox have been battling each other and the Chicago weather this weekend, A doubleheader was originally scheduled for Friday but just one game was played, before the teams got in a twin-bill on Saturday. Chicago won 8-2 on Friday and then 3-0 in Game 1 on Saturday before Detroit was able to eke out a 4-3 win in the nightcap. The Tigers had scored two or fewer runs in five of their previous seven games but the team's four runs last night were enough to get them a win. They are now just 2-5 on their 11-game road trip but have a chance to split this series Sunday afternoon. Chicago hopes for a series win with a Sunday victory to kick off a seven-game homestand (the Boston Red Sox visit for three games beginning on Monday).

The pitching matchup: Jordan Zimmermann (4-3 & 5.86 ERA) will get the ball for Detroit and Miguel Gonzalez (3-5 & 4.55 ERA) for Chicago. Zimmermann is not having the type of year the Tigers had hoped for and is having some trouble keeping the ball in the park. He has surrendered 12 HRs in 34 innings over his last six outings and comes in having allowed four runs in each of his last four starts (1-2 / team is 1-3). However, he's had success against the White Sox, as his April 30th 7-3 win over them makes him 4-1 in six career starts (teams are 5-1), despite a less than flashy ERA of 4.59. Zimmermann's counterpart in this game, Chicago's Gonzalez, knows all about struggling. Gonzalez has lost each of his last five starts with a 6.99 ERA as opponents have batted .336 against him in that span. Gonzalez went up against Zimmermann on April 30 and took the loss, giving him a 2-5 career mark in eight starts against the Tigers (teams are 3-4), while posting an ugly 8.08 ERA.

The pick: The Detroit bats have been relatively quiet recently but with Gonzalez on the hill, those bats should wake up! Gonzalez went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his first four starts of the season (White Sox were 4-0) but that's long forgotten. See above for the recent gory details and let me add that in his last outing against the Tigers (April 30th), he gave up seven runs (six earned) and a season-high14 hits in six innings! Make Detroit a 10* play.
