(MLB) Kansas City vs. LA Angels,
Money Line: -113.00 LA Angels (Home)
Result: Loss
The set-up: The KC Royals have caught fire with a season-high five-game winning streak after they opened a four-game series in Anaheim against the Angels with a 7-2 victory. Kansas City pounded out 15 hits and have now scored 42 runs (8.40 per) during the winning streak, after opening the season averaging 3.62 runs through its first 60 games. The loss dropped the Angels to 35-35 on the season (9-8 without Trout), as well as 0-4 on the year vs. the Royals, while scoring just five runs.

The pitching matchup: Ian Kennedy (0-6 & 5.40 ERA) gets the ball for KC and Jesse Chavez (5-6 & 5.06 ERA) for LA. Kennedy is having a miserable season and is still searching for his first win of 2017 in his 12th start of the year (Royals are 3-8). He has allowed four or more runs in each of his last six starts and despite allowing opponents to hit just .209 against him, is 0-2 with a 6.12 ERA in five road starts (KC is 2-3). Kennedy's best outing of the season came against the Angels as he struck out 10 and allowed two hits over eight innings in a no-decision back on April 16, but he's 0-4 with a 4.97 ERA in five career starts against them (teams are 1-4). Chavez gave up a season-high six runs against Houston in his last start but escaped with a no-decision after lasting only 3 2/3 innings. He has served up at least one homer in 11 consecutive appearances to set a dubious franchise record. Chavez lost his one career start against KC (4.76 ERA) but in six overall career appearances against him (includes five relief stints), he owns a 1.65 ERA.

The pick: Chavez has pitched as poorly as Kennedy in 2017 but while Kennedy has yet to win after 11 starts (again, KC is just 3-8), Chavez has managed five wins in his 14 starts (LA is 7-7). KC's win streak ends here. Make the Angels a 10* play.
