Rogers' Sunday NFLX SHOWDOWN >> Won G.O.W (Jets) Saturday!
(NFL) Seattle vs. LA Chargers,
Total: 37.50 | -108.00 Over
Result: Loss
The set-up: The Seattle Seahawks will be in Los Angeles Sunday night, as the now-LA Chargers begin a new era in "The City of Angels (AFL fans may remember that the Chargers began in LA back in 1960, before moving to San Diego the in their second season of 1961). The Seahawks won the AFC West at 10-5-1 and reached the divisional round before falling to the eventual NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons. The Chargers hope to turn things around in their new home, after finishing dead last in the AFC West with a 5-11 record in 2016. While the Chargers have been to the playoffs just once in the last seven season, the Seahawks enter the 2017 season having played in the postseason six times over that same seven-year span (two SB appearances, including one win).

Seattle: It was a fairly quiet off-season for the Seahawks, although the team is hoping that Eddie Lacy (signed as FA from Green Bay) can stay healthy and along with Thomas Rawls, can return the Seattle running game to the heights of the Marshawn Lynch era. Russell Wilson showed a great deal character by battling through a few early season injuries early last year and is a quality, playoff-tested QB. The Seahawks will again feature one of the NFL's strongest defensive units, which despite numerous injuries in 2016, allowed an average of only 18.2 PPG, good for third in the NFL.

LA Chargers: The Chargers started their transition by landing one of the prized free agents in the off-season, signing OL Russell Okung to a 4-year, $53 million deal. He'll help protect QB Rivers and open holes for RB Gordon. Rivers could have a big year with a healthy Keenan Allen joining Travis Benjamin and 2017 first-round draft pick, Mike Williams from Clemson. Gordon had a hugely disappointing rookie season but the former Wisconsin RB had 997 yards rushing in 2016 with 12 TDs (10 rushing). The Chargers scored an average of 25.6 PPG last year (9th) but struggled defensively, allowing 26.4 PPG (29th).

The pick: No real reason to expect much from Seattle in this one and while this is the Chargers' first game before their new "home crowd," I expect a boring game. Make teh Under an 8* play.
