Rogers' *10* Thursday THROWDOWN >> PERFECT 2-0 L2 Days!
(MLB) Chi White Sox vs. Texas,
Money Line: -151.00 Texas (Home)
Result: Win
The set-up: The Texas Rangers remain in the AL wild card hunt, although they are hardly alone. Texas rolled up 28 runs in a three-game home sweep of the Detroit Tigers to pull within two games of the LA Angels for the second wild card but they are one of SEVEN teams withing 3 1/2 games of that final playoff spot. The Rangers now welcome the Chicago White Sox to Arlington having won six of their last seven games and with hope of continuing their momentum against the White Sox. Chicago has lost four straight and seven of 35 since July 4, leaving them with the AL's worst record at 45-72. Chicago's latest loss was painful, as the White Sox allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday to suffer a 5-4 loss to the LA Dodgers, giving them a 20-41 road record..

The pitching matchup: Reynaldo Lopez (0-0, 3.00 ERA) will make his second start for Chicago since recently being recalled from Triple-A and he'll face Tyson Ross (3-2 & 7.11 ERA) of the Rangers. He received a no-decision in his White Sox debut, despite allowing two runs on four hits over six innings against the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 11 (White Son won 6-3). Lopez went 5-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 11 appearances (six starts / he was 2-2 & the Nats were 2-4) for the Washington Nationals last season before being traded as part of the package for outfielder Adam Eaton. This will be his first start against the Rangers. Ross returned from a stint on the disabled list because of blister issues to defeat the Houston Astros 8-3 on Saturday. Ross received a no-decision against the White Sox on July 2 when he allowed four runs on four hits over five innings and is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in four appearances (three starts / teams are 2-1) against Chicago.

The pick: The White Sox will look to play the role of spoiler the rest of the season but it's tough to back a team which is 20-41 on the road, allowing 5.10 RPG. I realize that Ross owns a 7.11 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in eight starts here in 2017 but the Rangers just scored 28 runs in a three-game sweep of the Tigers and have scored four or more runs in 15 of their last 16 games! Make Texas a 10* play.
