(NHL) St. Louis vs. Las Vegas,
Money Line: -144.00 St. Louis (Away)
Result: Loss
The set-up: The Vegas Golden Knights are off to the best-ever start by an NHL expansion team (5-1-0) and will welcome the 6-2-0 St. Louis Blues to town on Saturday night, with hopes of continuing their winning ways. Schedule-makers have been kind to the expansion Golden Knights, as this contest is Game 5 of a seven-game homestand, early in the team's inaugural season. Vegas moved to 3-1-0 on the homestand with a 5-4 overtime victory against Buffalo on Tuesday. The Blues represent a formidable opponent for the Golden Knights, as they made it six victories in eight contests this season by beginning their road trip with a 4-3 victory in Colorado on Thursday.

St. Louis: Paul Stastny recorded a goal for his 600th career point and added an assis in the win. Blues forward Jaden Schwartz is off to a superb start with a team-high six goals, including four in the last two games (both victories). Vladimir Tarasenko (five goals) has a four-game point streak (two goals, three assists) while defenseman Alex Pietrangelo recorded two assists Thursday, giving him 10 points, second on the team to Schwartz's 12.

Vegas:The Golden Knights have opened 5-1, despite the fact No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury went on injured reserve (concussion), after leading the team to three wins in four games. However, backup goaltender Malcolm Subban, brother of Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban, has performed admirably with two wins in two games (2.42 GAA and .911 SP). Rookie right wing Alex Tuch has scored in his first two career games, taking advantage of the opportunity presented to him when Erik Haula and Jonathan Marchessault (lower-body injuries) were placed on IR. Oscar Lindberg (three goals) has scored in the last two contests while David Perron (two goals) provided the overtime winner Tuesday and is second on the team with five points.

The pick: The 'Vegas story' has been a good one, as the city recovers from that horrific shooting. However, the team has played "over its head" and will eventually, miss the presence of Fleury. Case in point is the fact that Vegas is just 2-for-26 on the power play this season, something one wouldn't expect from a team which has won five of six games. On even closer inspection, the Golden Knights have defeated just one team with a winning record, the Dallas Stars (4-3-0). Three of the wins have come against the Arizona Coyotes (twice) and Buffalo Sabres, who have combined for just one victory between them! Make St. Louis an 8* play.
