The hard-hitting Angels are home to the White Sox today. The Sox start their ace, who has been very un-ace-like for much of the season. He has come around in June, limiting ER to 2 or less, but doesn't pitch for his usual length. He'll face Angels lefty Detmers, who after a disappointing early season has bounced back in June, throwing more innings per start and holding the opposition to a .188 BA. Both teams are only slightly better than average in June. The Angels have been hit hard by the injury bug, but appear to have settled their lineup somewhat with recent acquisitions and call-ups. The Angels are tough on right-handed pitching, and Chicago, off a win, struggles to put multiple wins together. This game could come down to the bullpens, in which case I will side with the much better-hitting home team. The Angels have had some blips in their bullpen lately but on average I prefer it to the Sox'. Detmers is off his best start, a 7 inning shutout. The Angels took two of three from the Sox on the road in May. Take the home team to win today.
