After they complete their suspended game from Friday night, the Mets and the Red Sox will have another go at each other. Both bullpens should be well rested as the Friday starters should be able to go a little farther than usual in terms of innings pitched. Probable starters Scherzer for the Mets and Paxton for the Red Sox are veterans that are having solid years. Both had a rough outing recently and also a stellar outing, with the other outings of the last five being solid. Paxton has the edge at home with 1.3 ERs against while Scherzer has had a 3.0 average of ERs against on the road.

Both bullpens have been effective with the Red Sox having a slight edge statistically.

Where things begin to really separate themselves is at the plate. The Mets are in the bottom fifth of the majors against LHP in terms of avg. and OPS while the Red Sox are in the top fifth against RHP. At home the Red Sox are 1st in avg. and 3rd in OPS while the Mets are in the middle of the pack on the road. And in their last 15 days of baseball the Mets are dead last in avg and second to last in OPS. The Red Sox are on fire in their last 15 days being 4th in avg and 2nd in OPS.

It will be a lot more difficult out there on Saturday for Scherzer than it will be for Paxton. Take the Red Sox for the win.
