Severino shut out the hard-hitting Rangers over five innings in his last appearance. That's a fine start and a better start in his last two, possibly a sign of his return to form. He has only seven starts this year, spending a ton of time on the IL, so he is a good bet to finish the season well. He'll face Cards' starter Jack Flaherty who has now struggled badly in two straight starts. He has pitched well at times this season, but has an ERA for May and June of over 5.00, and has an opposing BA of over .300 in the last two months.
The 6-4 Yankees appear to be righting their ship. They won their last two series and are making their way up the the offensive ladder after dwelling in the cellar for some time. The NY bullpen is now back in form with a recent ERA approximately half of the Cards' relievers. Meanwhile the Cards are still struggling. Their home record is absolutely awful this year. They were pummeled in their last two games, and are still hitting well below average of late. I'm wagering on Severino and the Yankees, both on the upswing, to win on Friday.
