There's a new target for the Canucks and their longshot playoff hopes, which remain alive...though just barely. It's Minnesota, six points up on Vancouver, though the Canucks have a game in hand, and get a straight shot at Minnesota next Saturday at Rogers Arena. Dallas could provide some help by beating the Wild earlier Sunday, but with the Wild stumbling, there is still a chance for Vancouver to make one last push if it performs as it did last night when scoring five in the first period vs. the Ducks en route to a 6-2 win. Thatcher Demko was the winner in goal last night, but tonight Rick Tocchet might have to go back to Kevin Lankinen, who hasn't looked good his last three starts. Meanwhile, Vegas form hasn't been great this past week, losing twice at home vs. the Oilers and Jets, blanked by the latter, and needing a fluke goal in OT by Reilly Smith to beat Calgary 3-2 last night at the Saddledome.
