Mike Leake was acquired from the Mariners just a couple of minutes before the Trade Deadline. This will be Leake's first start for the D-backs and he is happy to be here because he lives in Phoenix Arizona. His last start was on July 30 against the Rangers when he allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
For the Phillies Jake Arrieta is limited because of a bone spur in his right elbow, meaning he typically hits a wall around the fourth or fifth inning, losing velocity and command of his pitches.

He doesn't get many swings and misses and that leads to hits and runs. In July, Arrieta was 0-2 with a 4.95 ERA while Leake was 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA. Whoever gets to the bullpen first should win this game, and I like the Dbacks to win that battle.
