Although Tanaka has had some blowup games this year, he got a no-decision in his lone start against the Mariners this year, going 6.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits. Kikuchi did have a great outing in his one start against the Yankees, a 10-1 Mariner win in the Bronx back in May. However, over the past month or so, Kikuchi has alternated good outings with terrible ones. The Seattle rookie pitched a complete game against the Blue Jays last Sunday, allowing only 2 hits and no runs while striking out 8 and walking only 1. After scraping by with a 1-run win last night, I expect the Bronx Bombers to take it to Kikuchi tonight, and win this one big and Tanaka to perform well for the many Japanese fans who will be in Seattle tonight watching.
