Rutgers is coming off a disastrous 1-11 season, but this team actually showed some growth last year, particularly late in the season. They played Northwestern, Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State all tough, and they finished the year on a 5-0 ATS run.
Last year Rutgers' one win came in the opener against Texas State, winning 35-7 as a 16-point favorite. I can see a similar result here. Massachusetts got kicked out of the MAC in 2016 for not being competitive. Now, they have a brand-new coach with just eight starters back. This Minutemen team is completely and totally over-matched in this game, and I like Rutgers to roll at home to a big win.
