5-Unit Play. Take 'Under' in Atlanta at San Diego (9 p.m., Thursday, June 29)
The Braves just continue to be a solid, undervalued option. They have beaten the Padres nine of the last 10 meetings. And I think that Jaime Garcia is due. He has gotten strafed his last two starts. But prior to that he had five straight quality starts and was dealing. His numbers are better than his 2-5 record suggests. The Padres are also the worst hitting team in the league against left-handed pitching. San Diego is going with young Dinelson Lamet today. He has been streaky. But the fact is he has a 6.60 ERA and he's given up at least three runs in his last four starts, allowing 22 runs in 20 innings. Not good. He does have a 4-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio and if he can avoid the long ball (he's given up 8 in 30 innings) then I think he'll be OK. In fact, I think both pitchers are solid today. But Garcia will go deeper in the game and the Braves will win this one late.
