The Blue Jays are coming into this game not playing very well in their recent games as they have started to slump now. They have lost 4 of their last 5 games and their offense has been awful in those as they have scored just 3 runs or less in 4 of those 5 games. They are going up against a Red Sox team that has not been playing great recently either as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games as well but they are going to get up for this series at home as they have won all 7 meetings against the Blue Jays this season. The Blue Jays dominated the season series against the Red Sox last year so the Red Sox have definitely had these games circled on the schedule and the Blue Jays themselves have also been awful against all division opponents this year. They also have Alek Manoah starting here and he is 2-8 with a 5.87 ERA this season but he has also had a stint already where he was sent down to the minors since he has been struggling with allowing a lot of runs all year. He has been pitching better recently but he has still allowed at least 3 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts and he also allowed 5 runs in Boston against the Red Sox earlier this season. The Red Sox have a very good offense in the MLB and they are going to find ways to score runs here at home with how bad Manoah has been this season. James Paxton is starting for the Red Sox here and he is 6-2 with a 3.34 ERA this season but he has also been one of the Red Sox most consistent starters all year. He has not allowed many runs all season and has been pitching very well recently as he has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in 5 of his last 6 as well as in 8 of his last 10 starts. He also pitched against the Blue Jays in Toronto just over a month ago and almost went 8 full innings without allowing any runs. The Blue Jays offense has been cold recently and they are going to continue struggling to score runs here while the Red Sox offense lifts them past the Jays here. The Red Sox will win this game at home.
