Kris Bubic (2-1, 0.96 ERA) vs. Clarke Schmidt (0-0, 0.00 ERA) .
Kansas City hasn't been great offensively in this series and I expect that to continue on Wednesday. The Royals have not been producing runs at a very high rate and are averaging the second least runs per game of any team in baseball this year through 18 games. Kris Bubic gets the nod this evening and he has been great. However, Bubic does not have a great history when he's the starter (much better as a reliever.)
On the other hand, the Yankees' Clarke Schmidt will pitch for the first time this year. Schmidt was dominant last year with a 2.85 ERA in 16 starts with the Yanks. Good thing for him is that this team averages the second most runs per game out of any team so he should get plenty of run support each and every outing, as well as today.
Even though Bubic has looked really good and the Royals are coming off of a playoff showing, I don't believe that this team has what it takes to win in the Bronx, especially considering that they haven't capitalized on minimal run scoring from the Yankees in this series already. I'm expecting the Yanks to complete the 3-game sweep today.
