As you know, I like this Florida team a lot, but I think this number is just a little tall. The Terps escaped against Col St when Derik Queen hit a buzzer-beater. But that was a weird game. The Rams came out hot and held a 24-12 lead with about 10 minutes left in the first half. But Maryland tightened up the defense and outscored them 60-47 the rest of the way. The Gators took care of the defending champion UConn 77-75, but the Huskies showed the blueprint on how to beat Florida by clogging the middle and forcing the guards to beat them. The Gators lost the turnover battle 12-6 and held their three big men to 18 points. They were able to squeak by by shooting 47.4% 9-19 from downtown but that’s not likely to be repeated against this Terps team that is 14th in the country in 3-point defense and allowed their first two opponents to 21.7% and 23.8% from deep in the first two games.
