The set-up: Giancarlo Stanton has homered in six consecutive games (two short of the major league record) and has homered in 23 of his last 35, giving 44 on the season. However, his solo shot in last night's game didn't much help, as the Marlins lost 9-4 at home to the Giants. Miami is 57-61 on the season, 14 1/2 games back of the Nats in the NL East and the Giants are 48-73, an incredible 37 1/2 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. The teams play the rubber match of this three-game series early this afternoon at Marlins Park.

The pitching matchup: Matt Cain (3-9 & 5.22 ERA) takes the mound for the Giants and Jose Urena (10-5 & 3.76 ERA) for the Marlins. Cain's season has gone much like the Giants', as he takes the mound having gone win-less in his last 14 appearances, including 12 starts. He last win came way back on May 15 and Cain owns an 0-8 mark during that stretch with the Giants going 3-9 in his 12 starts (Cain's ERA is 6.92 in those starts). Cain owns a 3.63 ERA in his career versus the Marlins, going 6-5 in 16 starts (Giants are 9-7). Urena permitted three runs in 5 1/3 innings of a no-decision versus Colorado on Friday but the Marlins won 6-3. That continues his surprising success in 2017, as the Marlins are 13-6 in his 19 starts this season, giving him MLB's fourth-best moneyline mark among starters at plus-$921.

The pick: Let's ride the 'hot' Urena here against a San Francisco team which owns MLB's worst moneyline mark in 2017 (minus-$2885), a 21-41 road record on the year and will start Cain, who last won three months ago. Make Miami a 10* play.
